Bicentenario POP

Sometimes I get different orders. Orders where one would like to experiment, explore new ways of expression. Orders are accepted as challenges, as a perfect opportunity to have fun with the job of an illustrator. Enjoy my work is mainly what I try with every order and this has been one of the most. My experience tells me that when you get all this, is when you get better results. This is my vision of José Gabriel Condocarqui (Tupac Amaru II)
Bicentenario pop is a traveling exhibition comprised of twenty portraits of the protagonists of Independence, prepared by renowned illustrators, with their particular and different styles. Who has not seen those pictures where a very stern hero shows off its shiny badges while looking confidently towards the future? So we met and since then we have seen and almost always Bolivar, Nariño, Santander, La Pola, Miranda, Manuelita Saenz, San Martín, Hidalgo, and many other actors of Independence.
The exhibition, organized by the Mayor of Bogota, the Ministry of Culture, Recreation and Sport and Malpensante House seeks to revamp the iconography "classical" set in the nineteenth century and ensure that the public can see the figures of our history with an eye fresh and renewed.
A selection of twenty latin american illustrators, including the Spanish ones Ulises Culebro, Javier Olivares, Fernando Vicente, David Pintor, Martin Satí, Adria Fruitós, and Arnal Ballester has been responsible for returning to portray patriotic figures, this time from a contemporary viewpoint and through a pop filter.
The works will be displayed on billboards and modules for the International Book Fair and at four sites in the capital, between August and November 2010.

Compostela
The next November will be ready my book about Santiago de Compostela on Kalandraka publisher. A different travel book, a tour of some of its streets and squares, a nice walking by a city that vibrates, that is alive, a city full of magic and fantasy. You will feel the heat of the sun at sunset... you will feel the rain, you will hear the sound of a violinist in the Xelmírez arch ...See you soon...
